JavaScript allows us to add interactivty: popup windows, rollovers, image slide shows, counters, clocks, and calculators.

  • We will explore just a few of the basic and easiest uses of JavaScript: alerts, prompts and status bar messages.
  • We will discuss the pros/cons of and explore the various uses of popup windows.
  • We will create one of the most popular Javascripts - rollovers!
  • JavaScript allows us to utilize forms in a myriad of ways - from navigation to page color changes.
  • Lastly, we will check out the wonders of DHTML.
Javascript can be useful - if used appropriately! Users can easily become annoyed with windows that popup everytime they arrive at a website.

PopUps

The Date Modified Scripts allows the user to check how current the information on the page is and how often you update the page.

Date Modified

Rollovers are actually created by using two images - a secondary image very quickly replaces the primary image as the user moves their mouse over the image.

Rollover (false link)     ~     Rollover (live link)     ~     Rollover Buttons     ~     Rollover onClick     ~        Rotating Images

Forms can take many forms with the realm of JavaScript. Form buttons are often used to allow the viewer options. A text box can be used to "jump" to other webpages.

DHTML, Dynamic HTML, is used to create mousetrails, rolling or scrolling text, and visual light effects.
